Catharina Eden

As a young child I used to make clothes for my dolls. They had a wardrobe including distressed jean vests, T-shirts with floral prints and even a complete wedding dress with veil, all sewn by hand in the middle of my bedroom floor when I was about 9 years old. Making dresses for my dolls got pushed aside some years later when I developed an obsession with my mothers Vogue and Harpers Queen magazines.

As a young woman with a head still filled with fashion, I took a summer course in Central Saint Martins for Orientation to Art and Design and realised that I wanted to do everything I could to work in the creative arts and hopefully if all the stars in the sky aligned themselves that would one day be in the world of fashion.

I made a successful application to Lahti University of Design, Finland, where over the 4 year course I discovered and later developed my passion for evening and occasional wear.

During my studies I was lucky enough to win placements at Ben de Lisi and at Alexander McQueen and upon graduation worked at a London based high-street manufacturer as head designer and pattern maker.

I set up my own company and fashion label in 2006 and started making seasonal ready to wear collections in women’s evening and cocktail wear. My first stockist was in Finland and after some early challenges I have enjoyed seeing my business grow into a thriving vertical operation with in-house production.

As my company has grown, so have I as a designer, and I have chosen this moment in time to “re-launch” my label in a direction I feel very comfortable and confident about.
